| There are actually 2 docks, there is a newer dock under construction to the left of this image. And even this area was being renovated where it met the city. LOTS of building going on! | You need to get a cab to get here from the pier, it's about 3 miles to town. It's a few bucks, I think $5 or so, all regulated. There are SCUBA shops right outside the pier, a 5 min. walk. |

This is a typical image when you stand in the entrances to these shops, and there a lot of them. Gentlemen, make an arrangement to meet the wife at some point where she has "narrowed it down". The cruise line has, of course, a "list" of shops, and they are all on the main street area. It means nothing, you are on your own to haggle. What's actually cute is the lesser shops actually have a poster outside "welcoming" the cruisers from a particular ship. Again, useless. |

Janet truely enjoyed her experience at Cozumel. She found the folks friendly, not "pushy", but interested in helping you give them a sale. She is a very smart shopper, and despite the awesome selections, wasn't sold. But she had fun! That's what a cruise is about. | ![]() |

The
Cozumel Experience Comment: I did not treat this port of call fairly. There is obviously much more to do in Cozumel. But, that's why we cruise knowing that the first time is a "quick look", and first impressions. It's all about site's like mine and others, as we visit areas beyond the 1st time. An aside, this was a port where I really needed a bottle of scotch to "smuggle" on-board. It took as long to find that bottle (they just drink rum and tequila here) as it took the wife to shop. The secret is to ask a local, and make sure you have cash. |
